Electrostimulation: Generating Sparks in Alternative Medicine

electrostimulation

Lightening up the hopes on muscular, skeletal, and neurological ailments gloom is the breakthrough on electrostimulation. Consistent experiments gave birth into therapeutic devices based on this theoretical concept. The health and wellness market became its home with progress in medical science.

Historical Sneak. The theory reached its reputation from series of studies through the years. It has roots from Egyptian, Greek, and Roman medical treatment in the ancient times. It was supported by successful experimental endeavors of famous scientists. Luigi Galvani is one who pioneered the idea that electric current yields muscle contractions. Furtherance of such study was conducted by Michael Faraday who specialized in electromagnetism.

Theoretical Concept Simplified. Theories sound complicated so simple conceptual breakdown will do the explanation. The human body is responsive to electrical impulses that trigger movements. The Nervous System is responsible for this grand function with the aid of the brain, nerves, and muscles. The brain generates the impulse through the many different neurons in action. These are then transmitted to the nerves which serve as the impulse messenger. Receiving the impulse is the respective muscle to carry out the command. As a result, motor activities are produced.

Medical Simulation Described. In Electrostimulation, the impulse originally created by the brain is mimicked using electric current. This is directed to specific muscular points to achieve the desired contraction. The muscular reaction can be simply illustrated as a form of exercise. Healthy contraction of muscles is vital for efficient blood and oxygen circulation. It fuels up proper organ functions. Also, it sustains the release of unwanted body toxins such as excess fat and salt.

Model Therapeutic Device Created. A concept is abstract as it stays on the mind alone. It should be made tangible through invention of a device that can substantiate the concept. There is a variety of electrostimulation devices that correspond to their respective medical objective. There are fundamental parts common to all of them, though. One is the power generator which is the source of the microcurrent waves. Another is the set of electrodes which receives the transmitted impulse. Electrodes may be in the form of plates or sponges which are placed on the skin close to the target muscles. The impulse penetrates the skin direct to the muscle fibers to attain contraction. Modulators are used to control the electric current flow rate.

Pathological Remedy Applied
. The science of electrostimulation is now waging a trend in the medical industry. It penetrated the alternative medicine market. Three of its major fields of application are:

Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation. This is administered to bring musculoskeletal rehabilitation through development of muscle tone, elasticity, mass, and the like. It is useful for strained or damaged muscle treatment. Also, it is equally effective to develop musculoskeletal potential.

Psychological Rehabilitation. This is also utilized in neurological/psychological rehabilitation by fabricating neurotransmitter impulse. It is found to be helpful in the therapy of insomnia, depression, addiction, and the like.

Physiological Enhancement. This is further used in cosmetics to improve physical appearance. It is employed in facial treatment, cellulite removal, and body slimming.

True indeed, electrostimulation is making an ignition on the medical scene.
