Sun creams: Protect your skin when you do sports in summer

Playing sports is one of the most pleasurable activities that you can do in the summer.  Whether it is volleyball, basketball or football, playing outdoors is a swell way to spend your summer break.  But playing sports may not become that enjoyable if you play under the strong rays of the sun and without the benefit and protection of the proper sun cream.  Furthermore, applying and using any type of sun cream is not enough.  You must know which sun cream is the best match for you and which one will give you the best protection for the kind of sport that you will be playing.  You should also know the right way to apply the sun cream in order for you to make the most of the protection that it can give.

When choosing from the many sun creams available in the market these days, always make sure to read the labels on the boxes very carefully.  Look for sun creams that provide protection from the UVA radiation of the sun and from the UVB radiation as well.  This is very important because many of the sun creams for sale only provide protection from 1 kind of sun radiation.  While you are checking the labels, you should also read the ingredients that have been used to make the sun cream.  Check to see if they have ingredients that have been approved by authorized government agencies. This will ensure that the sun cream you are purchasing is safe for your use.

Because you are going to be sweating a lot when you play, you should choose to buy sun creams that are sweat proof. Your sun cream should be able to cling to your skin and   continue to provide you with the protection that you need even during intense and competitive play.  However, just because you have sweat proof sun cream does not mean that you should disregard re-applying it during the course of the day.  You should still re-apply your sun cream at least every two hours.  This will ensure that you are still protected just in case you sweat more than your sun cream can handle.

Most importantly, you should check on how much SPF or Sun Protection Factor your sun cream has.  You should choose a sun cream with a higher SPF because you will be under the sun for a prolonged period of time while you are playing your favorite sport.  A higher SPF does not only mean better protection, it also means you will have to use less of it to provide the protection that you need.  You will also need to reapply it a lot less times than you would a sun cream that has a lower SPF.

Keep these tips in mind the next time you go out to shop for your sun cream.  These will make sure you enjoy your summer and that you will be able to enjoy playing out in the sun without having to worry too much about sun burn and sun radiation.
