The abdominal fat is visceral fat close the abdominal organs, or subcutaneous fat if it lies between the skin and the abdominal wall. It usually consists of excess calories accumulated around the abdomen. Its accumulation is determined by such factors as gender, hormones and genes. Gender is responsible for making an “apple” shape in men with abdominal fat, and a “pear” shape in women. This difference in shape takes place because the male hormone makes men accumulate fat around their abdomen, while the female hormone causes fat to be stored around the pelvic region, and on their hips, butt and thighs. If left unattended, the abdominal fat poses as a risk factor for many diseases such as cardiovascular, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes.
Men, more than the women, develop abdominal obesity through various factors. One is bad lifestyle that includes excessive intake of alcoholic drinks, unhealthy food choices, and over consumption of takeout foods. Daily consumption of two 12-ounce beers equals 100,000 calories per year or 31 pounds of the body fat tissue. Takeouts from most food outlets are usually high in sodium and fat. The unhealthy food choices include cakes, cookies, chocolate and cheese cakes, and ice cream. Without these factors, the development of abdominal or visceral fat in men is likely to be discouraged or the same fatty bulge reduced for a healthy looking waist.
There are ways to reduce abdominal fat. In the first place, you should have better food options like fruits, vegetables, or whole grain sandwiches and cereals. It is incumbent on you to follow a calorie-reduced diet plan or increase your physical activity so that your body will be forced to burn its stored fat, especially around the belly, into fuel. Since reducing fat from the body’s middle can be slow, men with “apple” shape form are advised to be patient and do some fat-reducing activities such as fast walking for at least nine hours, if possible, and build tighter muscles through exercise.
Admittedly, a big belly is not only unattractive but is also dangerous to you health. This produces unhealthy hormones and bad chemicals which increase your risk for many serious diseases. You can lose or eliminate this fatty bulge by (a) eating the right foods at the right time and to combine the correct eating patterns with a workout routine, (b) focusing more on weight training to build muscle and increase the demand for energy of your body, (c) developing love for aerobic exercises such as walking, jogging, biking and stairs climbing to enable you to manage your weight more effectively, (d) giving up all kinds of soft drinks including the so-called sugar-free, to avoid 9,000 calories or 2.5 pounds per month for drinking two cans of soft drinks per day, (e) avoiding taking snacks on junk foods impulsively or emotionally, (f) limiting alcohol consumption to avoid wine that may contain calories which may be ultimately converted to belly fat, (g) building a habit taking diet green tea for at least six months, which can lead to a 3-pound loss of weight, and (h) taking a 30-minute walk around your neighborhood after dinner to burn hundreds of calories per week.
