Skating: burn calories and firm your legs

Skating

There are so many ways to burn fat. One is skating, a form of sport in which runners or sets of wheels attached to the shoes of the skater are used for gliding on smooth surface. Skating directly helps in reaching exercise goals such as aerobic fitness , strength, endurance and reduction of body fats. Sports training specialists attest to the fact that even a 25-minute skating, the body can burn recently ingested calories and break down fat for energy afterward. If this skating routine is done three to five times weekly, it is very possible that the body can turn into a fat-burning machine. But through this physical activity, not only fats are burned, the hip and leg muscles or the connective tissues around the ankles, knees and hips are also strengthened.

Skating is done in various forms. These include Roller Skating, Ice Skating, Hockey Skating, Figure Skating and Inline Skating.

Roller Skating

Is gliding or traveling on a smooth surface, using roller skates. This is said to be one of the best aerobic exercises for improving the health of the heart and lungs, reducing body fat, and for boosting leg strength.

Ice Skating

Uses  ice skates to move or glide on ice in a specially prepared indoor or outdoor track, or on a naturally frozen body of water. Through this type of skating, the skater can burn a big number of calories per hour. Aside from health benefits, ice skating is done for leisure, traveling and other sports purposes.

Hockey Skating

Is designed for hockey players, and is skating also on ice.

The Laura Stamm Power Skating System, is only one of the groups that teach hockey skaters various techniques and forms, leg drives, knee bending, body positions, weight shifting, and specific maneuvers for the game.

Figure Skating

Is another skating sport on ice. This is an event in the Winter Olympic Games in which individuals compete by performing spins, foot works, jumps, and other challenging moves that use ice skates.

Inline skating

Is another recreational sport practiced all over the world. This uses inline skates consisting of two to five polyurethane wheels arranged in a single line usually in the middle to allow for greater speed. Otherwise known as Roller Blading, this sport burns more calories per hour than Roller Skating through the side-to-side movement of the thigh and butt muscles. This is also considered as a better aerobic workout because it not only tones the thighs but also develops muscles in the upper leg and the body’s lower back.

Vancouver Olympic Games

Anyone can gain the techniques of any other skating sports through practice for better health. These are also designed to reduce body fat and tone the muscles in the legs for strength and good health. In Hockey Skating, for instance, the deep-knee bend is one good skating technique to learn, as this will help with balance to allow the skater to have better control of his edges. For ice skating, learning how to balance is also important. This can be achieved by bending both knees slightly to keep one’s feet intact under, and by keeping the arms out in front. One should also learn how to accelerate by gliding faster and bending the knees deeper in longer pushes for good control before going into the techniques for slowing down.
