Exercise machines: fitness equipment and workout apparatus

Engaging in sports is one of the best ways to stay fit, but others prefer to work out through less time consuming activities.  Instead of playing basketball or badminton, other people would prefer staying inside their homes and do sit ups, or enroll themselves in gym classes and try on the gym equipment.  Doing exercise with the help of fitness equipment and workout apparatus that are available either in your own home or in the gym would still level the calories burned and muscles developed through sports activities.

If you want to impress the ladies doing aerobics in their body-hugging, flesh-exposing outfits, or spend quality time with the hot gym instructor you are crushing on, then the gym is the place to be.  Forget about the parks, the streets, the pool and the ring – it is now time to stay fit and healthy through the use of the gym equipment available with the help, of course, of your fitness trainer.  One of the fitness equipment that might be the most popular among gym aficionados is the treadmill.  The treadmill is the perfect substitute for walking and jogging.  If you feel that it is not safe to walk or jog outside but you enjoy these activities, then the treadmill would surely do the trick.  You can control its speed depending on your mood or ability.  More distance travelled equals more calories burned; faster speed equals greater increase in heart rate thus the increase in blood flow and release of sweat.

Another exercise equipment is the stationary bike.  The stationary bike is just like the bicycle, with the hand bars and wheels and pedals, only it does not move.  It offers a good cardio workout as it equals cycling, just without the inclination and the rough roads.  Aside from a good cardio workout, it also helpful in toning your leg and thigh muscles into perfect shape.  If you are not familiar with cycling-friendly routes then the stationary bike is the perfect fit for you.

If you think that enrolling yourself into the gym and hiring a gym instructor is costly, then you might as well buy some workout apparatus and do the exercise at home.  One of the best workout apparatus that you can buy for home use is the jumping/skipping rope.  Trying on the skipping rope will increase your heart rate in only a short period of time, thus sweating and burning of calories.  Even if you do not know the tricks in using the skipping rope, you can still use it for workout because all you have to do is jump while twirling its handles.  It’s that easy!

Another exercise-at-home apparatus is the balance ball or often referred to as the Swiss ball.  Instead of doing your sit ups, curl ups and pushups and other floor exercises on the floor or on your exercise mat, you can now make use of the balance ball for increased work done, thus increase in calories burned.  You can work on your core muscles, you side abs, and even your leg and arm muscles using this apparatus by resting your back on it, sitting on it, or pushing it with your back against the wall.  While not exercising, your balance ball can be a comfy chair you can use anytime for practicing proper posture.

We must always remember that before we engage in any exercise routines, we must first warm up, and cool down after.  Before trying on these workout equipment, make sure that you are physically able to use these types of equipment because improper use may result to injuries.  Of course, don’t forget to eat a balanced diet to complement your exercise activities.
