Japanese massages

After a long day at work or a stressful afternoon in school, most people feel the need to relax by taking a quick nap or resting for a while. Others afford to visit spas and massage centres and spend their extra money on letting a professional massage therapist help them feel relaxed and comfortable. As there are many types of massages, of different cultures and techniques, done by different expert massage therapists, it may take time for you to just think about which massage to avail, and what massage will satisfy you. Of the many types of massages, the Japanese massage is one unique massage that you may consider when you feel a little less like yourself.

The Japanese massage, called Shiatsu, started in Japan during the early 1900s. The massage uses the technology of acupressure, which is quite similar to that of China’s acupuncture. However, China’s acupuncture uses very thin needles in targeting the meridian points of the body where cure is needed. In the Japanese Shiatsu, the therapist uses just the hands and fingers to apply deep tissue pressure to these meridian points. Blockage of these meridian points is believed to be the cause of diseases and illnesses. In traditional medicine, unbalanced Chi in the body resulting from blocked acupressure points along the body’s meridians causes a person’s illness. Shiatsu massage brings back the harmony of Chi inside the person’s body and would make him feel relaxed and relieved after the process.

The Japanese Shiatsu is sure to make you feel relaxed and comfortable once you have tried it. What is unique to this type of massage is that it not only gives the feeling of relaxation but also detects the person’s illness and does preventive medication. Yes, the Shiatsu can also cure the person’s illness at the same time. Expert Shiatsu therapists can pinpoint the cause of a person’s illness by just using his/her hands and fingers and locate the pressure points of the affected area. By massaging and concentrating pressure on the affected areas, the therapist will then be able to cure the pain and determine preventive measures. Moreover, the Shiatsu therapist can also tell the patient which parts of his/her body are experiencing some problems and ailments, which the person can be not aware of. At that, the therapist will help the patient know how to deal with it.

Surprisingly, Shiatsu can also teach your own body to cure itself in the process, letting your body system be your own therapist. As you often undergo Japanese massages, your immune system will be strengthened, as well as your circulatory and nervous system. This will help your body recover on its own when you feel sick or experience pain.
Taking off the person’s clothes is not a requirement for this type of massage. However, using aromatic and therapeutic oils can soothe the body more and could give the more relaxing feeling. Remember that it is the muscles and the tissues that are being massaged so be careful in applying pressure to the person you are giving the massage to. There is no need to worry as Shiatsu massage therapists practiced the art of Shiatsu for many years, and perfected it before they can put it into practice.
