Fast weight loss: a risk for your health

Weight loss refers to a reduction of total body mass resulting from a mean loss of fluid, body fat, or fat-storing connective tissue, known as adipose tissue. When weight loss is intentional, it is done by losing or shedding off of total body mass to improve health and fitness. Weight loss is unintentional if it results from diseases and sick conditions, or from a state of extreme hunger. In fast weight loss, there is willful nutritional restriction for more than 12 waking hours in order to lose weight significantly by having the body burn fat for energy in a short time. This is usually done appropriately by and for those who are very overweight.

Losing weight fast properly provides certain benefits such as a healthy, slim and lean body, and prevention of obesity-related diseases that can be caused by overweight. To properly lose your weight fast, you may consider the following steps: (a) get programs for weight loss that will serve your own specific need, (b) find the most appropriate system for you, (c) have a strong will that will help you achieve success for your weight loss goal, (d) put in your willingness, effort and dedication to your weight loss plan, (e) drink at least eight glasses of water every day to cleanse your body of fat and other impurities, (f) break your meals into five or six small ones to keep you from getting hungry in-between meal times, (g) increase your fiber intake through whole grain bread and pasta, and (h) do walking or playing a physical game exercise every day for at least 30 minutes.

You should be aware; however, that losing weight fast may not be beneficial all the time. Some of its ways like crash dieting and extreme exercising will not help maintain your healthy weight and therefore pose a risk to your health. Crash dieting, which is willful nutritional limitation, can cause dehydration or constipation, and fatigue by avoiding vital nutrients and calories needed by your body. It can also make energy levels to drop, and lower potassium and sodium levels to make you experience a feeling of being sick. Nutritional deficiencies resulting from imbalanced and improperly supervised weight loss diets can lead to potential health problems. It can also result in catabolism or loss of muscle mass, which is oftentimes undesirable.

It is important that you should also know some myths and erroneous beliefs about losing weight fast so as to help guide you in selecting weight loss programs. One of these says that eating low-carbohydrate, low-fat and low-calorie diets lead to fast weight loss. The truth is that fast weight loss can be achieved by eating more delicious and healthy fat-burning foods. Some people also have it that long and frequent cardio and aerobic exercises are effective for fast weight loss. According to experts, this is not a good way to burn fat because exercising for just 45 minutes per week is a better way to lose weight even without a cardiovascular workout. Against the belief that 1000 crunches and sit-ups can lead to belly fat loss is a fact that stomach fat can be lost five times faster through full-body exercises that may not even target the abdominal muscles or abs. Another myth that high protein, low-carbohydrate diets are effective for weight loss is belied by the fact that more calories from high-protein foods do not make up a balanced eating plan.
