Muscular pain is also referred to as myalgia or a pain in one or more muscles caused commonly by their overuse or
over-stretching, injury or excessive pressure. Sometimes, it is also a symptom of many diseases and health problems. An articular pain, on the other hand, is also known as joint pain; arthralgia, or convulsive pain in one or more joints; shoulder joint; knee joint; and aching joints. A joint is the area where two bones join together to make a
fringe joint,
ball-and-socket joint, or a
saddle joint.
There are ways on how to deal with these pains of the muscles and joints in addition to pain-relieving
anti-inflammatory drugs and muscle relaxants. One way is to take some foods under certain food groups. The foods that are rich in magnesium and that keep good condition for the muscles and tendons include asparagus, lettuce, dried fruits, seeds and wheat germ. Milk, cheese and yogurt are rich in calcium and good protein and are beneficial in controlling muscle spasms. People with muscular pain also need plants rich in silicon, and some fruits and vegetables with some acid taste like grapes, cherries, quinces and cereals. Not to be left out are foods with vitamin E such as nuts, hazel nuts, seeds and fish oil.
The most common pains of the joint resulting from
sports injuries include the runner’s knee, ligament injuries, and torn cartilage. The runner’s knee is caused by the
inflammation of the tendons which occurs through excessive or incorrect routines in running, skiing, and cycling. It has such symptoms as painful swelling in front of the knee. The ligament injuries take place when the tissue connecting the bones of the joint are stretched or torn when the knee is hit or twisted. The cartilage may be torn if the knee is forcefully twisted as in a situation when one is lunging in a tennis game. The drugs used for the common knee pain consist of non-steroidal
anti-inflammatory medicines that can block the inflammation process. These include aspirin, ibuprofen, and naproxen, which are often used with therapy sessions and exercises. For chronic muscle pain, sports doctors recommend acetaminophen and also non-steroidal
anti-inflammatory drugs and muscle relaxant benzodiazepine for muscle spasms and chronic bruxism or the unconscious grinding of the teeth when one is suffering from stress, or in sleep.
Doctors say, however, that these drugs should be administered only after conservative medications do not work. Tricyclic anti-depressants are also recommended to help with pain, especially night time bruxism pain. Other medications for
muscle pain include coleseveran, darbepoetin, daptomycin, and darunavir for many symptoms that include, among others: (a)heartburn, (b) stiffness and hypersensitivity, (c) poor concentration, (d) irregular sleep patterns, (e) neck pain, (f) tiredness, (g) stiffness on waking up, (h) depression, (i) anxiety, and (j) headaches. Some of the recommendations that can help with muscle pain and restore muscle mass and tone include moderate
exercise , massage with scientific bases,
herbal supplements and teas that can provide natural relaxing effects, self-care and behavioural changes, and reassurance of support and care from medical practitioners.
