Food with Antitoxic Effect

To humans, toxins are usually sourced from bacteria, especially what they call the gram-negative bacteria. The gram-negative bacteria are not harmful to humans; it is however the substance found on their cell walls called lipopolysaccharides or LPS that is really the potent chemical that gives the adverse reactions to humans. Also, some of the most potent bacteria like E. coli and Staphylococcal protein A to name a few are examples of bacteria that have LPS on their outer cell membranes.

Some common effects of lipopolysaccharides to human are gastro-intestinal, skin rash, respiratory or allergic reactions which in some cases have resulted to critical medical conditions, and worst, have caused deaths to hundreds.
Although gram-negative bacteria abound almost everywhere especially on areas near unsanitary places as well as places with lots of insects, they are also present inside the human body constantly. Yes, the body contains toxins but is however kept at bay by the body’s auto-immune system and depending on the diet of the host body. The level of toxins inside the body would depend on the diet of the host body because there are foods that contain antitoxins that neutralize the adversarial effects of lipopolysaccharides.

Foods that are rich in B-Vitamin Complex are good front-liners against toxins because they are the elements the body depends on enhancing the immune and nervous systems. B Vitamins are also responsible for cell growth and division. When the toxins attack, the cells would be the first one to be damaged, and if left unchecked would manifest as diseases. However, if the body has substantial level of B-Vitamins, the effect of cell damage is countered as the damaged cells are replaced immediately and flushed out in the body. Examples of common foods that are rich in B-Vitamins are liver, tuna, whole grains, potatoes, bananas, chili peppers, beans and yeasts. Beers may be a product of yeast and contains lots of B-Vitamins but the alcohol content of the intoxicating beverage inhibits the benefits of B-Vitamins to the human body.

Cereals are another source of anti-toxins. Cereals act as toxin-magnet literally because they absorb all the toxins in its path. Oats, whole wheat, corn and their derivatives could be depended on to take out toxins out of the body.
Another bane of toxins in the human body is foods rich in fibers. Fibrous foods pretty much do what cereals do, that is absorb then expel the toxins out of the body but the difference is that fibers can be found on more sources such as fruits. Apple, pear and pineapple fruits are good sources of fibers.

Proteins are also good deterrent weapons against toxins. Proteins combat toxins in a two-pronged approached. First, proteins help the liver perform its normal duties. The liver is the organ that functions as fat emulsifiers. Lipopolysaccharides are a form of fats and so maintaining the liver in a good condition always would be bad news for toxins. Not only that, the liver is also the organ that decomposes red blood cells which may be containing toxins. So, in the natural process of blood replacement, a lot of toxins are crushed by the liver’s cleansing functions alone. Another use of protein against the potential damage of toxins is that it acts as cleaning agent in the bloodstream. Sources of proteins are meat and soybeans.

There is one thing to remember when it comes to toxins. It is not prudent to eat too much food rich in antitoxins just so for the purpose of controlling the level of toxins in the body. One must also remember that too much B-Vitamin specifically B₂, B₃, B₆ B₉ and B₁₂ are not good to get in high doses as skin rashes and the possibility of permanent neurological disorder could be the end result. So, with regards to toxins in the body and controlling them, the foods mentioned above could really help the body but not to the point of over indulgence as the antitoxins themselves may become toxin to the body.  One should not forget that the human body already has a natural way of dealing with toxins and eating the right diet is more of a supplementary measure only.
