Proactive Shoes

Sports shoes are a very important part of your sporting gear. There are a lot of sports shoes made especially for specific types of sports.  Running shoes for example are designed to have a lot of shock absorption properties in order to protect the runner’s feet during long periods of intense running.  Basketball shoes on the other hand lean towards having a strong, sturdy ankle support design that would help in preventing the basketball players from getting ankle sprains.  However, if you are the kind of athlete that wants to dabble in multiple kinds of sports, you will need a different kind of shoe.  You will need a multi-purpose, proactive sports shoe that will be able to keep up with you no matter what sport you intend to play for the day.

A good proactive sports shoe should have a wide outsole that can provide support in multiple conditions.  A wide outsole also provides more stability for your feet when you are turning or changing directions continuously.  It helps prevent you from rolling your ankles or straining your feet in sports that require a lot of jumping and running such as basketball and football.  The outsole should also be durable.  This will allow you to use the shoes comfortably when you are playing indoors on hardwood such as inside gyms while also giving you great performance when you are playing basketball on an outdoor court or tennis on a cement court.  Most outsoles made for multisport purposes are made of a material called carbon rubber.  This is a kind of rubber that has been added with additives that contain carbon.  Carbon rubber is harder than normal rubber thus it is much more durable and stable.

The cushioning of proactive shoes is more moderate than those found on sport specific, and specialized sports shoes.  Most of the cushioning is located on the forefoot and on the area around the heels.  This is again made in consideration of the need for the shoe to have the ability to stay stable in many different and varying conditions.  There are two major materials that make up the most part of the cushioning in these kinds of sports shoes.  These are polyurethane and ethylene vinyl acetate. The polyurethane is used to make the cushioning material denser, thus adding weight to the shoe.  It also makes the material a lot more durable.  The ethylene vinyl acetate on the other hand is used to add additional bulk to the cushioning material without adding too much weight.

Most proactive shoes have uppers that are made of leather. In many instances though, these leather parts are usually blended in with different kinds of synthetic material to make it more breathable and to eliminate some of the added weight that a full leather upper section would have.  Leather mixed with synthetic material also makes these shoes usable under different weather conditions.  It allows these shoes to be used in regular dry weather, while also allowing them to be very comfortable and functional during wet and winter seasons.
